Wisconsin Objectives for 2002-03
There are three primary objectives to be undertaken in the coming year
1) Development of a GIS 2) Development of the biological
database and preliminary analysis 3) Develop, conduct, and participate
in outreach activities.
1. GIS development will include:
- Review literature and publications
- Acquire GIS spatial data layers, AMLs, and other processing tools
- Investigate the use of ecoregions to define Ecological Drainage Units
- Complete delineation of draft Valley Segment classification
- Identify and test conflation methods for transferring Valley Segment
attributes between 1:24000 and 1:100000 hydrography layers.
2. Biological Database development will include:
- Determine and develop database structure
- Develop a list of sources of fish (main focus), benthic invertebrate,
and freshwater mussel data
- Acquire fish data and enter into database
- Review literature related to a habitat suitability index for fish
and other target taxa
- Data analysis will include a pilot effort to link the fish data to
valley segments
3. Outreach will include:
- Develop a Wisconsin Aquatic Gap Web page
- Conduct technical subgroup and stakeholders meetings
- Conduct meetings with other Great Lakes Aquatic Gap projects to coordinate
efforts
- Establish a multi-institutional approach toward development of a Statewide
Aquatic Gap project
