Flood of June 2008 in Southern Wisconsin
Severe flooding in June 2008 across southern Wisconsin prompted a cooperative study of the flood by the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). The study documented the conditions leading to the flood; flood-peak gage heights, streamflows, and flood probabilities at 32 USGS streamgages; and estimated streamflows and flood probabilities at three ungaged locations. Record gage heights and streamflows occurred at 21 USGS streamgages.
Flood-peak inundation maps, flood-depth maps, and flood profiles were compiled for nine communities severely affected by flooding. The flood-peak inundation maps were modeled in a geographic information system by use of surveyed high-water marks and available digital elevation model data.
